dressups by Tina is an Australian business helping children experience their imagination.
Why have dressups?
Imaginative play and ‘make believe’ are important developmental activities for young children. Although they will play pretend games without any props, it is much more fun to have a choice of costumes and accessories to play with!
Left to themselves, children will use each item in a number of ways – today’s fairy skirt is tomorrow’s dancer’s tutu and next week’s bridal veil whilst a cape can be for a wizard, witch, magician, King, Queen or superhero.
Who is Tina?
Tina is a Mum to two in Queensland who wanted a better range of costumes for her children. Using her sewing skills and a bit of creativity, Tina developed a range of costumes that had to meet her own high standards:
* Be well made, yet still affordable
* Be simple enough for children to imagine different uses
* Be non-irritating to sensitive children
At two, Tina’s daughter loved playing dressups but was limited by her very sensitive skin. All tags had to be removed from clothes, no pretty metallic elastic could be on her clothes and even appliqués on tops and bathers could irritate her skin.
Tina started creating costumes for her daughter without shirring elastic and edging all tulle to avoid scratching or annoying the skin. Then she made a few for friend’s children and realised that other children needed quality, low-irritating costumes too. Thus dressups by Tina began trading in 2004.
All dressups by Tina are made with care, and avoid being irritable to young skin. Certain fabrics, such as tulle, can be annoying to sensitive skin but are used where they needed for effect. For children who are particularly sensitive, we suggest that you contact us to discuss which costumes will best suit your child. If required, a costume can be made-to-order to reduce any sensitivity issues but this may incur additional charges.
When you give a child a dressup by Tina, you can be sure that it is well made and will develop their creativity.
Each costume:
* Is designed to be put on and off with minimal adult assistance
* Is made to last – although keep in mind it is difficult to guarantee even the best made item if it is treated inappropriately!
* Has special touches, like lace and bows, as appropriate
* Can be used for different characters and games just by changing an accessory or prop
* Fits young children – no more dangerous and annoying oversized dressups
* Is individually made, except where noted |
